Will e-Cars halt climate change?

There is no doubt that e-Cars currently offer a "green" alternative to conventional petroleum-powered vehicles.

Does it make sense to charge the battery while the e-Car is in motion?

Absolutely! Practically all modern e-Cars employ regenerative braking, a technology that works like a powerful engine brake, and that extends the e-Car's operating range by about 6%.

Has there been a significant increase in the number of e-Cars over the past few years?

In today's marketplace, consumers can already choose among a variety of e-Cars made by Renault, Nissan, Citroen, Mitsubishi, and Mercedes.

How can I charge my e-Vehicle at home?

All modern e-Vehicles can be charged at regular wall outlets, using single-phase current (230 V). In addition, some models also have a quick charge option, which requires heavy current (400 V). This, too, is an option for the home user, as long as a heavy current outlet is available.

How do I pay?

Until the end of 2014, you don't pay at all -- the electricity is provided to you at no cost by "Lebensland Kärnten."

How do I winterize my e-Bike?

Ask your dealer about the type of battery installed in your e-Bike, and about the applicable maintenance recommendations.

How will e-Mobility change our lives?

No noise, no emissions, and lots of fun: welcome to the future of e-Mobility!

What is the lifespan of lithium-ion batteries, and how much are replacement units?

For instance, the lithium-ion batteries installed in the Renault Z.E. Fluence are rated for 1,500 charging cycles. With a nominal operating range of 150 km, this amounts to about 225,000 km. The manufacturer's warranty usually covers 150,000 km or 4 years.

What kinds of e-Vehicles are there?

A wide variety of e-Vehicles is currently available, such as:

  • e-Scooters
  • e-Bikes
  • Segways
  • e-Quads
  • electric light four-wheeled vehicles (moped cars)
  • electric utility vehicles
  • and many more

Taken together, all these different e-Vehicles allow us a glimpse into the exciting and environmentally friendly future of e-Mobility.

What types of batteries are currently available?

A variety of different battery types exist today, some of which can be divided into subcategories. As a rule, battery types are named after the materials they are made of.

Where can I find electric charging points?

Carinthia already provides a comprehensive network of electric charging points.

Where will the electricity come from? Will we be using nuclear power?

We all know that electricity doesn't just magically appear out of our wall outlets. Fortunately, in Austria we are able to supply a large percentage of our total electricity needs from renewable energy sources, such as wind, sunlight, and especially water.

Who is behind the "Lebensland Kärnten" project?
